Tribute to an Ardent Horseman
YA Bhg Tun Dr Mahathir bin Mohamad was our Malaysian Prime Minister for more than twenty years. He started riding horses at the age of 60 and has been a passionate rider ever since. Tun Dr Mahathir keeps himself healthy and fit by riding with us regularly whenever he is in Langkawi.
At the age of 83, Tun as we fondly call him is still an avid horseman with a passion for horses so apparent that he ensures visits to our Island Horses' stables is in order upon his arrivals in Langkawi!
It was Tun Dr Mahathir's idea to create the 75 km Perdana Mountain Trail. Our current horse breeding programme was also mooted by this remarkable horseman.
Tun has several horses with us, some of which are among the very finest in Malaysia.
